Ahh, there's nothing like getting an e-mail that calls you a guru. If that's not good for your ego, what is?

We have a new friend, in fact, who's handing out this lovely guru status. The blog is called A Season to Read (isn't that a great name for a book blog??), and Wanda says she has a soft spot for Canadian Literature. Feel free to educate me, Wanda!

She is sharing the book The Friends of Meager Fortune, written by David Adams Richards. This is an international contest (yay!) -- well, the only restriction is that you have to have an address that the book can be sent to. Enroute to Life has another memoir to share (well, five copies of one book. You know how it goes).

This time, it's the fabulously-titled I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti, which just conjures up SO MUCH. For me, at least. Clearly, it did for author Giulia Melucci (although sometimes, the title an author picks isn't what winds up on the cover. Still, we'll give it to her.)

You have until April 10 if you are in the US and/or Canada (although how you can be in both at the same time escapes me. Yeah, you can straddle the border, but immigration's not too keen on you doing that anymore.) -- and no PO Box addresses, sad to say. Yes, friends, PO Box discrimination continues! (I do wonder about the people who have PO Boxes as their permanent addresses. But that's off-topic here.)

One thing I like about Drey, of Drey's library: she's like me. You can always count on her to have something a little bit off the beaten path but still really amazingly cool.

In this case, it's five copies of Charles Grodin's How I Got to be Whoever It Is I Am. This guy is my new hero; he got thrown out of Hebrew school. Know how many times I'd tried to accomplish exactly that???

That's only one small part of the man. In fact, the way Drey tells it, there's SO much more to this guy, it's amazing.

Marie over at The Burton Review needs some help.

You see, she'd like to give away her gently-read ARC copy of Robin Kaye's Too Hot to Handle. It's not quite that easy, though. Ms. Kaye is stopping by The Burton Review for an interview, and Marie wants to know what WE want to hear from Ms. Kaye. The person with the best question gets the book.

I know it's hard to ask good questions about a book you haven't read yet. So does Marie; that's why she's posted a link to the author's website. Maybe that'll provide inspiration.

Yeah, it's a little bit of work, but won't it be worth it when a published author answers YOUR question? (What? You're so used to interviews now that you're jaded? Go back to that excitement you used to have. Tap into that.)

Now, here's something different! Our good friend Alyce Reese (At Home With Books) has gotten a little bit (ok - a lot) behind on her review copies lately.

So, she's made two lists of books. One list has all of the books that she is obligated to review because she has made an agreement with the author or publisher to review those books. The other list includes books that Alyce has gotten from other sources (these are the ones she's sharing here).

My good friend Candy over at My Raves also has an interview happening today. (Is it interview an author day or something???) She's hosting Efrem Sigel, who has written one of the better books she's read this year. (Since she's read my book, I think I should be insulted by that. But I'm not.)

Candy is giving away her copy of the book, so that means you're not getting a brand new book. She IS gentle on her books; I can vouch for that.

Drey's keeping the library hopping by conducting her first interview! Yay, Drey! Her victim/guinea pig/gracious author of the day is none other than Sheldon Rusch, who has written three books that Drey describes as crime fiction: For Edgar, The Boy with Perfect Hands, and Separated at Death.

You can own your own set of Rusch's three novels, compliments of Drey and Mr. Rusch himself. This is for our US and Canadian friends, and those of us with PO Boxes are out of luck. (sigh) And we should sigh; the interview is great and who doesn't like a good crime novel???

It's a memoir written by Andrew Bridge, called Hope's Boy, and it's the story of a childhood spent in foster care. I have to smile fondly at these celebrations for reaching the 100th post anniversary. The Meet and Greet is coming up on 600, and here at Win a Book, the team's posted almost 2,000.

The Book Faery Reviews dropped us a note today. I love getting notes from faeries; they always make you think something good is happening.

In this case, something good IS happening. Three copies of Kristin Armstrong's book, Work in Progress: An Unfinished Woman's Guide to Grace, are up for grabs. If you read the description from the Faery, you'll be as intrigued as I am. This book sounds VERY empowering.

I swear, I have not met a bigger advocate for poetry than Serena at Savvy Verse and Wit -- and I've known a few poets in my day, too.

To convince you that poetry isn't the Big Bad it seemed to be when we were forced to study it in high school, she's got a copy of one very interesting-looking book: Dear Anais: My Life in Poems For You, written by Diana M. Raab.

That's not all, though. Ms. Raab has also offered to send two other winners each one copy of her chapbook (that's a collection of poetry, usually self-published, or published in small quantities by a small press), My Muse Undresses Me.

Check it all out, including two (VERY readable and easily understood!) poems by Ms. Raab.

Whenever Dar at Peeking Between the Pages drops us an e-mail, she's always mentioning her weather. Today, it made me giggle because as I was driving home, I flipped on the traffic and weather station on my XM radio and when they'd cycled through once, somehow or for some reason, they started giving me the Minneapolis road conditions.

I don't live anywhere NEAR Minneapolis, folks.

So. Anyway, onto the give that Dar's got happening. It's for a book called The Sudden Disappearance of Seetha, which was written by Andrea Gunraj. Actually, the give is for TWO copies of this book.

Dar's also sweet enough to post a link to her review. That's always important.

Both copies are hardback; one is Dar's own very gently read copy. You've got to love that. And it's open worldwide, my friends!! Big thanks to Dar, because if mailing from the US isn't cheap, Canada can be worse.
