Auction! Move fast!

Man, I wasn't here most of the weekend, so I almost missed out on this one.

Shooting Stars Mag is auctioning off a copy of Catcher in the Rye, the JD Salinger classic, that's been marked up by soap star Sean Kanan.

Proceeds will benefit First Book, which is a darn good charity.

You only have a few hours left, so get bidding!

Is it Just me....

And to switch gears from the political stuff, we have a snarky humor book that'll put life back into perspective.

Is It Just Me or is Everything Shit? was written by Steve Lowe and Alan McArthur, with Brendan Hay. It looks like a fun skewer of our American popular culture; check it out.

Shooting Stars Mag is hosting this contest and it's one of those graduated ones: for every ten comments, another copy will be thrown into the mix, up to five copies. Hachette will mail the books out, so this is a US/Canada only contest, with no PO Boxes allowed.

You have until November 30, but don't wait. Remember, the more entries, the more copies...

The American Journey of Barack Obama

Go figure that this book is hot right now...

The American Journey of Barack Obama is this moment's Must Read, especially if you'd like to continue your recent involvement with American politics.

Lauren at Shooting Stars Mag has ONE copy of this to share. You know you want it, especially if you're in the US or Canada and don't have a PO Box. The rest of us will have to stare longingly and hope someone will pass their gently-read copy along.

Use this link. You have until November 30.

Once again, the proceeds will benefit First Book.

Do some good in the world!

I got an e-mail just now from the ladies at Shooting Stars Mag. They've got a really cool-sounding charity gig happening and they wanted me to share the word with you guys.

I love charity. I love being able to make a difference. So, copied directly from the blog, is what's up here:

We're going to be holding a charity event called Leave a Mark, auctioning off "marked up" copies of author's books. Tons of authors are participating, writing notes and post-its all throughout copies of their books.

One hundred percent of the proceeds is going to go to First Book.

Read more about it via this link. And stay tuned; hopefully they'll keep us in the loop and there will be more posts to come...
