Charity for Darfur!
Wondering if you have a way to share with your Book Blog a Holiday campaign going on to raise funds for books for Darfur refugees? The campaign is -- give $1 for each book received as a holiday gift -- and the website is: Bookwish. Would certainly appreciate your helping to spread the word. We're 100% volunteer staffed; 100% of funds raised by this campaign for direct book related aid for Darfur refugees. Thanks so much. Happy Holidays.
Heck, I just posted at my main blog about how easy it is to make a difference. The timing here couldn't be better.
I hope you'll think about chipping in.
Cheryl Anne Gardner's in the giving spirit!
Cheryl's really in the giving spirit this holiday season, because she's also giving away her copy of Love and Other Natural Disasters by Holly Shumas to Breeni Books readers! For an entry, just check out Cheryl's review and leave a comment *on the review* by Sunday, January 4th, 2008. I'll draw a winner the following Monday. This one is open to international readers. I will contact the winner via email on Monday for a mailing address, and must receive a response by the following Friday (Jan. 9). Otherwise, a new winner will be drawn. Good luck!

Two Reasons, two books
AND with Eid set to begin soon (Hey, Popin, what's the date of its start?), it seemed like a good time to celebrate.
You can win a copy of either The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd or The Rest Falls Away, by Colleen Gleason.
I've read both books. You can't go wrong. However, I'm a total Colleen Gleason fan, so if I can influence you one way or the other... (and don't worry. I have two autographed copies of the Gleason book in question here!)
This is an international contest, although Popin's going to use the cheapest shipping available. Cheap shipping = more books to give away.
Use this link before December 19.

Flirting with Forty
Today it's a copy of Flirting with Forty. (Man, whatever happened to "I hope I die before I get old?") Jane Porter wrote this take on a scary age.
Luanne has one of three copies to be sent directly from the publisher (so... US/Canada only and no PO Boxes). There are a few ways to enter, so check 'em out. Is this the first time the Follower option has been invoked? Pretty slick thinking...

I Like You
Okay, so it's a book title and she's buttering me up so I'll post about her contest, but still. It's good to hear.
Luanne at a Bookworm's World has 3 copies of Amy Sedaris' new book, I Like You, to share with friends in the US and Canada, but who don't have a PO Box like I do. Let me know how the book is when you read it, okay?
You have until December 16. Use this link.

Pemberley by the Sea
Serena at Savvy Verse and Wit has a great Q&A with Pemberley author Abigail Reynolds (also a proper name, huh?) -- and a contest for a copy of the book (US and Canada only, PO Boxes are welcome!) at the end. The interview is worth reading, and Serena's nice enough, as always, to provide us with a link to her review of the book. Gotta love Serena.
At least until you see how evil she is in her contest rules... check 'em out. No, you don't have to eat disgusting food or anything. Just mind where you comment, that's all...
Use this link before December 10.

Get Positively Beautiful
And Booking Mama's got a gift to share. It's a copy of Get Positively Beautiful, written by Carmindy from TLC's What Not to Wear (that's a TV show, if any of you don't get the TLC channel, and yes, calling it a channel is redundant. Sorry.).
There are actually up to five copies to share with you guys -- one for every fifteen entries. Even though this is a US/Canada only/no PO Box contest, surely we can get enough entries to have all five go to good homes, especially once you read the review. How can you NOT like a book that is based on the premise of looking good starts with feeling good?
You have until December 16. Use this link.

Public Service Announcement:
I've known Dewey since around the time she started blogging. I don't remember how we met or what brought us together, but what a great woman. It was almost sad to see her blog grow in popularity because she had less time to hang around the Meet and Greet with me. I liked having her there. She had a level-headedness that I wished for. And her knowledge of books...
Like you guys, I'm in mourning (although my shock's not quite so bad; I'd known she had health issues, although never what they were nor quite how bad). We've lost a good person, a true champion of the written word.
May we all do our best to continue the great literary deeds she taught us about. And may we even surpass them. And the community she brought together. Oh, what a tragedy to lose that. We can't let that happen. We just can't.
Rest easy, Dewey. I know you're watching us. I hope you approve.

You have until December 10 to enter, but why wait? Beauty is only skin deep, remember. It's what's inside that counts.
But having it outside sure makes me feel good.

Yep, I'm talking about our bud, Anna from Diary of an Eccentric, who just now e-mailed me and said, "I can't believe I forgot to e-mail you about this contest!"
Me, either, Anna. I also can't believe I didn't catch it in my reader.
Why should YOU care? Well, because Anna's cool. Because it shows you how vital the e-mails you send us really are.
And because you only have two days left to enter Anna's contest for Christine Son's Off the Menu.
And because you don't want to miss the cool guest post by Ms. Son.
