This Week At Amberkatze's...
This week's interview and contest is with the author of one of my favourite series. I Love a lot of paranormal books but the Anna Strong Chronicles are on the top of my list when it comes to vampire books and she is definitely the vampire I would most love to be. So I am really excited this week to welcome Jeanna C. Stein to Amberkatze's Book Blog.

First Daughter
In fact, she's got a lovely hardcover to share. The book is Eric Van Lustbader's First Daughter, and she's provided a link to her review so you can check that out before deciding if this is something you'd like to read (because Win a Book readers know what they like).
Unfortunately, due to astronomical postal rates, this has to be restricted to the US and Canada. You have until September 5 to enter, but why wait?

The Smart One
Okay, that's what most of us do. So what's the problem, you ask?
She loves the book too much to part with it.
Hey, it's happened to all of us. Personally, I've been known to ask a publicist for an extra copy because I knew in advance that I'd love a book too much to part with it. Dawn didn't have that foresight with this book.
So, instead, she'd put together a goodie package for you to win! Check it out, in her own words:
I think that we have a bit of the pretty one, the smart one and the wild one in each of us. I have a little gift package with a cosmetic bag (with mirror, perfect for corralling lipstick, a comb and hair ties in your handbag), a brain-teaser puzzle (should be a cinch for the smart one in you!), and some rub-on tattoos (that rebel phase isn’t permanent, is it?). Just leave a comment about The Smart One (your take on sibling “labelling”, perhaps?); enter by midnight on Thursday September 4, I’ll announce the winner next Friday!
And wait until you read the review... this book spoke to Dawn, all right.
Read and enter via this link.

Lydia Cassatt Reading the Morning Paper
BUT, Ms. Clayton's got some books of her own to share. Could they maybe have influenced her own fiction? Read it and find out.
This latest book is a modern-day classic (says Susan, who could be wrong but is ever hopeful). Lydia Cassatt Reading the Morning Paper, written by Harriet Scott Chessman.
Best of all? It's been autographed by Ms. Chessman.
Wait. That wasn't the best part, although it was pretty darn great. If you do one of two things (or both) and are the winner, Ms. Clayton will throw in a copy of her own book, The Wednesday Sisters.
Two great books. One great contest.
Read more about it and enter via this link.

Three copies -- signed, hardcovers
US/Canada only.
Enter by September 3 (but do it now! Why wait?)
A few other things she hasn't included in her mail: with the contest entry post, she's included a review of the book and an interview with the author.
Hello, let me be clearer: An interview with the Emmy-award winning (for his work on WordGirl) author.
This book's going to be huge, and if it's not, it's because there's no fairness in this world.
Check it all out (and laugh at some of those great lines) via this link.

A Babe in Ghostland
And here's her friend Shaunesay, who runs Shaunie's Happy Place, with a copy of Ms. Cach's A Babe in Ghostland. To give away.
Go get it before I can talk her into fixing the contest my way, will you please? You've got until September 1 to do this. And for those of you keeping score at home, it's registered with BookCrossing. You know the drill... no obligation for you to journal, but us BXers love to hear what others think of something we've read.

Sweet Life
Author Mia King was so excited to hear that Bookroomreviews LOVED her book, Sweet Life, that she's going to make prize packs for THREE winners. That's right. Three.
In the prize packs will be copies of the books and a basket of chocolate. Wait. Not just an ordinary basket of chocolate, either. Check it out:
Valued at over $80, our “Life is Sweet” Hawaiian gift basket includes:
*
one small gold box of Chocolate Dipped Original Shortbread Cookies
*
one gold box of Kohala Brownie Assortment
*
one petite box of Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Rocky Road
*
one petite box of Combination (Dark and Milk) Chocolate Covered Macadamia Nuts
*
three Dark Chocolate Dipped Original Shortbread cookies
*
one Original Biscotti with Milk Chocolate waves
*
one Original Biscotti with Dark Chocolate Waves
*
one signed copy of GOOD THINGS
*
one signed copy of SWEET LIFE
*
an assortment of temporary hibiscus tattoos, tropical key chains, monogrammed GOOD THINGS and SWEET LIFE pens, inspiring quote cards (you know I love quotes!), bookmarks, and more!
All of this comes in a lovely keepsake woven basket for you to store your favorite Mia King books.
But........ there's a catch.
Fifty excited people need to enter for Ms. King to throw in a second basket. And after 50 more, she'll throw in that third. Of course, there are ways to gain extra entries. Fifty ought to be easy. So should 100. Besides, you have until September 2 to make this happen. No sweat!
Still not enough for you? Since Sweet Life won't be released until September 2, Ms. King is offering a $500 online goodie bag for anyone who purchases a copy of Sweet Life on the release date (reminder: that's Sept. 2). Mark your calendars.
One catch here, too: you've got to buy the book from Barnes and Nobel, either online or in person. Submit your receipt to Ms. King for your entry.
How's THAT for making a big noise about an upcoming release?
Now the sad news: this is a US-only contest. 'Cause chocolate... it doesn't always travel so well.
Enter via this link.

True Detective
This trade paperback copy of the book has been autographed by the author himself. It's also registered at BookCrossing.com, but the winner's under no obligation to journal -- although it'd be nice. We BookCrossers like to know where our books go and what people think of them.
Nim ever so nicely provides a link to her review, so you can read about the book before you enter.
Be sure to read the contest rules carefully and follow the directions. If you want to read this book, you really don't want to blow it for yourself, do you?
You have until September 10 to enter. This contest is open world-wide.

Treasures of the Dark Contest
Shamelessly stolen from her blog...
Win great prizes from six authors of dark romantic fiction: Eve Silver, Jennifer St. Giles, Lori Devoti, Michele Hauf, Rebecca York, and Vivi Anna.
One winner gets it all! Here’s what’s in the prize package: Autographed copy of NEW MOON by Rebecca York. ARC of the anthology, NATURE OF THE BEAST, which includes Eve Silver’s historical gothic novella, Kiss of the Vampire. Copy of HIS FORGOTTEN FOREVER by Michele Hauf and a DVD of UNDERWORLD II and chocolate! Signed copies (one each) of SILKEN SHADOWS by Jennifer St. Giles and LURE OF THE WOLF by Jennifer St. Giles.
Signed copies of UNBOUND by Lori Devoti and GUARDIAN’S KEEP by Lori Devoti.
