West of Mars -- Win a Book!

Breeni asked me to step up and say something about the fact that Win a Book has been included in a specially-created category by My Friend Amy, as part of her Book Blogger Appreciation Week events.

I don't really know what to say, except thanks. I created this blog because I wanted to find a blog that was about nothing else except book contests and the news surrounding books and authors. I didn't want to wade through what felt like eight million posts for contests and giveaways featuring sippy cups and other things I've left behind as my kids grew. I wanted books. I wanted to know what you guys, the people who read books, are reading and raving about.

Many of you who use our handy-dandy e-mail to contact us include your thanks for the hard work the gang and I put in here. I think I speak for all of us when I thank you for that. It's important to know you're appreciated.

So now I'd like to encourage all of you to go vote -- you don't have to vote for Win a Book, although it'd be nice, of course. There are a million other categories over at My Friend Amy's place, and even more nominees for each of those categories. Some of them are your own blogs. Some are blogs you've never heard of. Some may even be blogs you don't like.

Still, raise your voice and vote. I say to other authors all the time that I firmly believe that the cream will rise to the top in terms of our books (usually in the context of, "Why did that get published? It was dreadful!"), and I believe that if you all go vote, the cream of the book blogging world will rise to the top, also.

Thanks for putting Win a Book up near that cream layer, so to speak. Keep sending us those contest links -- we know it can be a pain to e-mail us, but it makes our busy lives that much easier. All you need to do, really, is send the link. We can do the rest.

And keep the feedback coming, too. If you'd like us to widen our focus to other things -- interviews, news of impending publications, anything book related -- be sure to tell us. This is your place as much as it is ours.
